Principal and designer Alex Wijnen first launched Defteling Design in 1997 while working at a Eugene-based design studio. During the following six years, her freelance clientele grew to the point where in 2003 she decided to make the switch and fly solo full-time.
Alex holds a Bachelor's degree in Advertising and Mass Communication from Drake University and an Associate's degree from Lane Community College. She's also an accomplished fine artist and has on occasion incorporated watercolor paintings and pen-and-ink drawings into her clients' work.
Over the years, Defteling's projects have won numerous design awards and have been featured in national publications, including HOW magazine, Creativity, and American Corporate Identity. Alex creates these award-winning designs in her well-appointed home office that is equipped to handle all types of projects, small or large.
Having grown up in the Netherlands and Germany, Alex is fluent in both Dutch and German – a nice bonus when working with global clients.
