NewsOnline catalog saves cost and adds space

Going online allows for airy catalog design plus cost savings now and later

Ekko Workshop, a local designer and manufacturer of design-savvy mobiles, first came to Defteling Design with the request for a logo design. After creating a new identity that included stationery and packaging, Alex got to work on designing a product catalog to promote Ekko's series of beautiful, thoughtfully engineered mobiles to the wholesale market.

Because of the cost involved with printing a catalog in an age where store buyers more and more look to online sources to find new products, it was decided to design a catalog that would be viewed purely online. In addition to saving on printing costs when first releasing the catalog, this also saves money down the road, eliminating the need for reprints.

The result is a 20-page catalog with an airy feel that gives each mobile plenty of breathing space and allows the reader to focus on just one product at the time.

From a design perspective, going online means no limits in terms of maximum number of pages. Defteling designed spreads that show off the gorgeous lifestyle photos in a large size and use one spread for each different style.
